I have seen a few people who have had trouble getting their Arduino drivers installed correctly. The ‘Installing drivers for the Arduino Uno with Windows7, Vista, or XP’ section on the Arduino ’Getting Started’ page says you will get the following error and will have to install the drivers in the device manager. No problem… Until you see that the board is not showing up under ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’.
- Right-click ‘Computer’ on your Desktop and go to ‘Properties’.
- Click ‘Device Manager’ in the upper left of ‘Control Panel\System and Security\System’.
- You will see ‘Arduino Mega ADK’ under ‘Other devices’. Right-click it and select ‘Update Driver Software…’.

- Click on ‘Browse my computer for driver software’.

- Click on ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’.

- Select ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’ from the list and click ‘Next’.

- Click the ‘Have Disk…’ button. Now click the ‘Browse…’ button on the ‘Install From Disk’ prompt.
- Locate the .inf file which is in the ‘drivers’ folder of the unpacked zip which was downloaded from the Arduino website download page.

- Click ‘Open’ and then ‘OK’ and then ‘Next’.
- Click ‘Yes’ on the warning.
- Wait for the prompt telling you success and poof! Done.
